Audition dates for actors in grades 2 - 6 |
| Auditons for our Fall Production (2009) will be held
on Friday September 4 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and Saturday September 5 from 10:00am to 12:00noon at St. Robert's Church, 198 Haggets Pond Road, Andover. |
Audition dates for actors in grades 7 - 10 |
| Sadly, there will be no spring performance for actors in grades 7 - 10 in 2010. |
1-minute monologue |
Auditioning students should prepare a monologue. You may choose your own material for the monologue, and it should last no longer than one minute. It is preferred that you memorize the monologue; however, if you forget the words, you may refer to notes, or begin again. We are not testing you on your ability to memorize, we want to see how well you speak and act in front of an audience.
Please do not sing your monologue. The purpose of the monologue is to hear how you would speak dialogue in a performance. You will showcase your singing talents when you sing "America". |
"America" (My Country 'Tis of Thee) |
| Words
and music for the song "America" (it starts with "My
Country, 'Tis of Thee") |
How to Audition |
| Bring a small, non-returnable photo. Fill
out the form (auditioner fills in front, parents fill in the back).
When your audition number is called, go up on stage, tell us your
name, grade, school, favorite food, and the name of your monologue. Perform
the monologue. When prompted, sing "America". If asked, sing scales, or follow musical director's
voice. After your group has auditioned, you are free to leave.
Cast members will be notified by the following Sunday afternoon if they have been
accepted into the cast. If you are not selected you will be
notified by email (if you provide your email address). |
Sadly, we can't accept everyone |
| Exclusion from the cast does not
mean that you did not present a nice audition. So
many talented children audition that we cannot possibly accommodate
them all. |
"I Made It!" |
| Most cast members will be in the chorus which means they will be involved in many wonderful production numbers with large and small groups. Lead roles customarily are given to
older, more experienced actors. |
Child's Commitment |
| Cast members are expected to attend
all rehearsals. Lead characters may be required to attend extra rehearsals |
Parents' Commitment |
| MJT is a cooperative effort between
parents and producers. All parents are expected to help with
the production by joining two or more production committees. |
